Chillies, originally from Mexico, got to Calabria at the beginning of the 16th century, through Spain where they were brought to by Chritopher Columbus on his way back from his first trip to America.
Chillies found their ideal habitat in Calabria and experts find them to be the best because of our climate.
Calabrian Hot Chilli’s nutritional properties:
It is aphrodisiac and the Viagra of poor people, since in the past it was considered to be a spice used by the poor.
Chillies supply our organism with these vitamins: C,A,PP,E, K2 and many other substances, amongst which: potassium salt, capsanthin, various salts and natural trace elements, capsaicin.
Gastronomic Use: pork-butcher’s, fish preserves, meat, cheeses, most of the food preserved in oil.
Therapeutic properties: vasodilator, anti-cholesterol, it helps the heart and arteries, it regulates the arterial tension, it has antioxidant properties and furthermore, it stops stools from putrefying, antioxidant, it prevents and treats arteriosclerosis.
